Reclaimed Pine Flooring has seen a surge in interest for use in homes lately. And why not? This beautiful wood accentuates any home in it's style and ruggedness.

In the old days, around the time of the Industrial Revolution, many factories were built at a pace never again seen. Many of these factories used southern heart pine wood that was favored because of it's bug and decay resilience as well as its hardy, straight timbers.  This wood had a dense, hard center at its "heart" thus the name, Heart Pine. Today, many homes, offices, restaurants and other places of business still use this wood that has lasted for hundreds of years making reclaimed pine flooring a favorite of many modern builders.

There was a problem though. Overcutting and poor forest management almost completely wiped out these southern pine wood supplies. The new growth pine of today unfortunately has very few of the attributes of the old growth pine of yesteryear. It's not nearly as dense, straight nor does it seem to have the lasting qualities of the old wood. And of course, from a beauty perspective there is no comparison. But luckily there is still old growth pine to be had and it's sold as reclaimed pine flooring offered here.

Pine is probably the most plentiful of all woods and reclaimed pine flooring adds beauty, functionality and durability to any home.
